To offer a spindle motor which can secure the fixation and continuity between a rotation support and a base part and can be manufactured at low cost.

The spindle motor 1 is equipped with a static member 2, a rotating member 3, a stator 6, and a rotor magnet 7. The static member 2 has a roughly cylindrical sleeve 11 which rotatably supports the rotating member 3 via a dynamic pressure bearing 4, and a base 10 which is provided with a cylindrical fixing hole for fixing the sleeve 11. The stator 6 is fixed to the static member 2. The rotor magnet 7 is fixed to the rotating member 3 so as to oppose the stator 6, and generates a rotating magnetic field in cooperation with the stator 6. Moreover, the internal perimeter 10b of the base 10 and the periphery 11a of the sleeve 11 engage with each other, thereby being fixed at a fixing part 12. Furthermore, a retention part 14 for retaining conductive oil 13 in contact with the base 10 and the sleeve 11 is made at one part of at least the axial end of the fixing part 12.
