In a spinning unit 2 constituting a spinning machine 1, a package attachment unit 12 is provided in a passage area R for operator located in the front of a machine base 10 on which a draft apparatus 11, an air-spinning apparatus 15, a convey roller 16 and a winding apparatus 17 are arranged. The package attachment unit 12 is provided with a peg 44 on which a package P is to be attached. The package P which is attached to the peg 44 is held substantially horizontally at its axis. A core yarn C unwound from the package P is led via a yarn guide roller 14 arranged behind the peg 44 into a core yarn guiding mechanism 13 arranged almost directly above the draft apparatus 11 and then into the draft apparatus 11 from the core yarn guiding mechanism 13. The peg 44 can be adjusted at its angle with respect to the cross direction and also at its position in the cross direction.
