PURPOSE: To provide a spinning method and a spinning unit therefor so designed that, when a polymer melt is delivered downward and cooled by an air flow sideways, spinning conditions are specified to obtain filament yarns without causing single fiber breakages even in the case of spinning filament yarns with many counts of fine single fiber.

CONSTITUTION: A group of filament yarns 12 delivered through a spinneret 11 are cooled by an air flow from cooling chambers 13, 13' installed longitudinally facing to each other. In this case, nozzle intervals on the spinneret are set at ≤3. mm, and the effective blowout length L for the cooling chambers at ≤350mm.
