Title:
SPIRAL BALL SPLINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5676718
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable positioning through the rotation of a shaft, by enabling rotation in terms of a lead angle. CONSTITUTION:Grooves 1', which are provided with ball exposure holes 1, are made at the same lead angle as the grooves 14 of a spiral spline shaft 13 and endlessly connected to other grooves 2 so that three ball circulation passages whose number is equal to that of the grooves 14 of the spiral spline shaft 13 are integrally provided. A retainer is (a) is thus manufactured. The developed shape of ball track constituting members (b) is an arc which is the major circumferential part of an ellipse coincident with a cut-off surface which would be made by cutting off a cylinder in accordance with a lead angle. For that reason, rotation can be caused at a desired lead angle. This results in enabling positioning action by the rotation of the shaft 13.
