Title:
SPIRO COMPOUND AND ITS USE AS ELECTROLUMINESCENT MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP07278537
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a spiro compound, which consists of a spirofluorene derivative, is able to yield a good optical yield, has a reduced tendency to crystallize, is capable of being processed into a thin uniform film, and is useful as an electroluminescent (EL) material.

CONSTITUTION: A spiro compound of formula I (K1 and K2 independently represent a conjugated system) used as an EL device is provided. The compound preferably consists of a 9,9'-spirofluorene of formula II (benzo groups are each independent), more preferably, a spirobifluorene of formula III [wherein K, L, M and N independently represent a group of formula IV (wherein R is same as K-N or represents H, a 1-22C alkyl or the like; m and n are each 0, 1, 2 or 3; X and Y independently represent N or CR; and Z represents -O-, -S- or the like), or a group of formula V]. The compounds of formulae I to III are used, for example, as an EL material and employed as an active layer of an EL device.
