Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce a non-linear state in an optical fiber to be used for transmitting AM or other information signals.
CONSTITUTION: The spontaneous emission light source 210 has high spectral density in required wavelength. An integrated waveguide optical path 214 is formed in a semiconductor or silic substrate 212 and an active medium and grating 216 are formed in the waveguide. The optical path 214 is pumped to pass energy through the grating 216 and the active medium. Pumping energy excites the active medium to output spontaneous emission light without generating lasing at wavelength determined by the grating 216.
