To inhibit noise even if the distance between a high pressure port and a low pressure port of a sleeve inner wall surface is not sufficient and grooves with length necessary for reducing noise cannot be machined.
This spool type flow control valve with a notch includes a sleeve 3 including a valve chamber 4 to which a high pressure port 1 and a low pressure port 2 are opened, and a spool 13A with a notch, which slidably arranged in the sleeve 3. The sool with the notch 13A includes a high pressure port side piston 5 opening and closing the high pressure port 1, a low pressure side piston 6 opening and closing the low pressure port 2, and a spool rod 7 connecting the high pressure side piston 5 and the low pressure side piston 6. At least one of notches 8, 9 for flow control is formed at one end of a spool rod 7 side circumference end of the high pressure side piston 5. In the spool type flow control valve with the notches, the spool rod 7 includes at least one projection parts 10a generating resistance in flow of liquid flowing into the valve chamber 4 from the high pressure port 5 through the notches 8, 9.
