To provide a spool valve for maintaining the smooth flow of a fluid while properly and easily setting the positional relationship of a spool relative to a sleeve.
The spool valve comprises a first communication port 4d opening to a cylinder hole, a sleeve 4 forming a second communication hole 4f opening a predetermined distance apart therefrom to the axial direction of the cylinder hole, and the spool 5 stored in the cylinder hole in a liquid-sealed slidable manner with one end to be closed/opened to the first communication port in response to its sliding operation and the other end to be opened/closed to the second communication hole. At least either one end or the other end of the spool is provided with a stepped portion having end faces 5d, 5f extending from the outer periphery face of the spool at an approximately right angle to the axis of the spool and a slope gradually reduced in diameter as tending from the end faces outward to the spool.
