Title:
SPORULATION OF BACTERIA OF GENUS BACILLUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000217567
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain spored bacteria highly useful for forage, an additive or the like by cultivating Bacillus bacteria in a medium including a specific quantity of corn steep liquor and a carbon source until the carbon source was consumed, followed by aeration.

The objective spored Bacillus bacteria highly useful for forage for animals and marine ones, an additive to a nursery for fishes and shells, or the like are obtained in an concentrated state by cultivating Bacillus bacteria [e.g. Bacillus pumilus A-1 strain or the like] in a medium including 1-5 wt.% corn steep liquor, 0.05-2.5 wt.% yeast extract and a carbon source until the carbon source was consumed, followed by aeration for 24-72 h. The spored Bacillus bacteria retains a high survival ratio even in processes such as collection of bacteria and/or immobilization of them in preparation, addition to forage, or the like, and can become forage including highly concentrated bacteria.
