To provide a spot welding method and a spot welding apparatus capable of obtaining stable welding quality in spot welding of a member to be welded made by laminating two sheets of thick sheets and a thin sheet.

When the member 100 to be welded made by successively laminating the thin sheet 101, a first thick sheet 102 and a second thick sheet 103 is spot-welded, the member 100 to be welded is pinched and pressed by a fixed side electrode 104 brought into contact with the second thick sheet 103, a movable side electrode 17 brought into contact with the thin sheet 101, and a control pressing means 20 adjoining the movable side electrode 17 and brought into contact with the thin sheet 101. A pressing force is provided on the second thick sheet 103 by the fixed side electrode 14, and a pressing force by the movable side electrode 17 and a control pressing force by the control pressing means 20 are provided on the thin sheet 101 side, and the pressing force by the fixed side electrode 14 is controlled small by the pressing force by the movable side electrode 17. The electric current density between the thin sheet 101 and the first thick sheet 102 is elevated, and a good nugget is formed from the thin sheet 101 to the second thick sheet 103 is formed and the quality of welding is improved.
