PURPOSE: To prevent the abnormal temperature rise of a lamp body and enhance safety.

CONSTITUTION: A spotlight in the title has a lamp body 2 to house a lamp 7 and so support the direction of a projection opening 5 as to be freely adjustable, and a plurality of thermal protectors 9a and 9b laid within the lamp body 2 for controlling said lamp 7 in response to temperature equal to or above the predetermined level. According to this construction, when the projection opening of the lamp body 2 is covered with towel or the like for any reason, the temperature of the lamp body 2 or the inside thereof becomes high due to lamp heating. Also, when the temperature of the lamp body 2 exceeds the predetermined level, the lamp 7 is dimmed or turned off with the protectors 9a and 9b.
