A method for processing spread-spectrum communication system includes the following steps of: transmitting a global pilot code signal from a base station to subscriber stations; transmitting a forward direction automatic power control bit to subscriber station units; transmitting a forward direction traffic channel to subscriber station units; controlling transmission power levels of a forward direction traffic channel and the forward direction automatic power control bit in response to a backward direction automatic power control bit; transmitting an allocated pilot code to the base station by the subscriber station unit; transmitting the backward direction automatic power control bit to the base station; transmitting a backward direction traffic channel to the base station; and controlling the backward direction automatic power control bit of the pilot code, the backward direction automatic power control bit and a backward direction traffic channel allocated in response to the forward direction automatic power control bit.
