To prevent scattering of broken pieces of a coil spring when it is damaged by forming a spring cover of a non-metallic elastic material, and making the cross-sectional area of the spring cover on one end side along the length smaller than the outer peripheral cross-sectional area of the coil spring within a limit in which the cover can be fitted on one end side of the coil spring.

A spring cover 1 made of a non-metallic elastic material is loaded on a coil spring 100, and has a specified length L. The cross-sectional area of a fixed end 1a on one end side in the longitudinal direction is smaller than the outer peripheral cross-sectional area of the coil spring within a limt in which the spring cover can be fitted on one end side 100a of the coil spring 100. The cross-sectional area of other parts of the spring cover in the longitudinal direction is larger than the outer peripheral cross-sectional area of the coil spring 100. Further, the specified length L is determined so that a free end 1b of the spring cover 1 is positioned at a position spaced a distance (s) apart from the upper face of a pocket 201a. When this spring cover 1 is used, broken pieces of the coil spring are held in the cover even when the coil spring 100 is damaged, and thus the scattering of the broken pieces can be prevented.
