PURPOSE: To make it possible to eliminate temporarily accumulated soot on the surface of a heat exchanger tube and maintain stabilized heating performance for a long time by sprinkling a small amount of steel balls over the whole groups of heat exchanger tubes continuously and then a large amount of steel balls to local parts of the heat exchanger tubes for a short time.
CONSTITUTION: Heat exchanger tubes of a heat exchanger are divided into small sections or more particularly 4×6=24 where a small amount of steel balls are uniformly sprinkled to the whole sections regularly and a large amount of steel balls are sprinkled for every divided small section for a short time based on a procedure marked with the arrow. Herein, a minimum amount of balls required to maintain a specified heating performance is continuously sprinkled over the whole surface of the heat exchanger. An increase in the steel balls sprinkled enhances the heating performance but increases the cost. Therefore, it is necessary to minimize a regular amount of steel balls thus sprinkled, which results in a drop in the heating performance with time. To comply with, soot is eliminated to a satisfactory extent by increasing the steel balls sprinkled only for a short time periodically. This construction makes it possible to clean the heat exchanger tubes temporarily and maintain a stabilized heating performance as well.
