A spun yarn comprises a meta-type wholly aromatic polyamide short fiber that substantially contains no layered clay mineral and is crimped, having an amount of 1.0 mass% or less of residual solvent in the fiber relative to the entire fiber and a breaking strength of 4.5 to 6.0 cN/dtex. The meta-type all aromatic polyamide fiber for use is produced through a step of appropriately controlling composition or conditions of a coagulation bath so that the fiber has a dense coagulated form having no skin core, a step of plastically stretching the fiber within a specific ratio range, and a subsequent step of heat stretching the fiber under specific conditions.
