This squalene synthetase inhibitor is represented by the formula {X is oxy, thio, S(O), etc.; Y is carbonyl or methylene; R1, R2, R3, R20 and R9 are each independently H, a halogen, hydroxyl, trifluoromethyl, etc.; R4 is a 1-7C alkenyl}, e.g. N-[trans-7-chloro-5-(1-naphthyl)-1-(3-hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl- propyl)-2-oxo-1,2,3,5-tetrahydro-4,1-benzothiapin-3-acetyl]isonipecotic acid. A pharmaceutically acceptable cationic salt, anionic slat, prodrug or stereoisomer of the compound can also be used in addition to the compound of the formula in order to obtain a medicine composition.
