Title:
SQUIRREL-CAGE ROTOR AND ITS MANUFACTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000152575
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide squirrel-cage rotor which can rotate at high speed by composing the inner circumferential part of an end ring facing the rotary shaft hole at least partially of a fiber composite member of fiber reinforced aluminum or fiber reinforced aluminum alloy.

In a squirrel-cage rotor, the inner circumferential part of an end ring 5 facing the rotary shaft hole is composed of a fiber composite member 6 of SiC continuously fiber reinforced aluminum. The fiber composite member 6 previously formed into a ring is secured at a specified position in the gap of a die and cast by pouring molten aluminum or aluminum alloy into the air gap of the die thus preventing temperature rise of the die to a high level and suppressing thermal effect onto the fiber composite member. According to the structure, a higher rotational speed can be attained as compared with the r.p.m. being realized using a rotor where the squirrel-cage conductor part is formed of same material.
