PURPOSE: To stably preserve the biological activity of an analyte in a liquid medium by adding an activating agent, and inhibitor, a substrate and its analogue to the solution of the analyte, and further adding a specific stabilizing substance to form a stable analyte-antibody complex.
CONSTITUTION: This method for stabilizing analytes comprises dissolving an enzyme, an antibody, and other spherical protein contained in the analytes generally in water, an acid, a base or an aqueous salt solution, adding a prescribed amount of an antibody (e.g. a monoclonal antibody) to the analyte solution to prepare the analyte-antibody complex solution, stirring and heating the solution of a time sufficient for forming a stable analyte-antibody complex from the complex solution typically at the atmospheric temperature to about 65°C for several min to several hr, cooling and filtering the complex solution and subsequently determining the content of the analyte. By the method, the original characteristics of the antibody can be utilized to stabilize the antigen (the analyte) in the liquid medium.
