PURPOSE: To obtain a stabilized lyophilized composition of glycopeptide-based antibiotic preventing discoloration and extremely suppressing chemical decomposition, comprising a saccharide, a sugaralcohol or a water-soluble polysaccharide.
CONSTITUTION: A stabilized lyophilized composition of glycopeptide-based antibiotic containing ≥0.05 pt.wt., especially ≥0.3 pt.wt. at least one compound selected from a group consisting of a saccharide such as glucose or maltose is blended with a sugaralcohol such as mannitol, sorbitol, inositol or xylitol and a water-soluble polysaccharide such as dextran or pullulan. A mineral acid salt of the glycopeptide-based antibiotic (e.g. chloroorienticin B or vancomycin) and the above-mentioned compound are dissolved in an aqueous liquid, sterilely filtered using a membrane filter and the prepared solution is lyophilized to give the objective composition.
