PURPOSE: To prepare a halogen-containing resin composition having excellent moldability and long-term heat stability, by compounding a halogen-containing resin with a stabilizer and a melt mixture of a polyhydric alcohol and an epoxy compound or a phosphorous acid ester.
CONSTITUTION: A composition composed of (A) a halogen-containing resin, (B) a stabilizer selected from a zinc compound, a lead compound, an alkaline earth metal compound, and an organo-tin compound, and (C) a mixture obtained by the melt mixing of (a) pentaerythritol, depentaerythritol and/or tripentaerythritol with (b) an epoxy compound, a phosphorous acid ester and/or a polyhydric alcohol other than the component (a). The melt mixing is carried out by heating the both components at sufficiently high temperature usually at 200W250°C until a clear viscous liquid is attained for several tens minutes, and cooled and crushed.
