To synchronize the frequency of emitted light by varying the magnitude of magnetostatic field being applied to an absorption cell depending on an external control signal thereby regulating the frequency of light emitted from a semiconductor laser diode.
Magnetostatic field of an absorption cell 5 is varied by applying a control signal externally to a coil 11 through a control signal input terminal 14 and thereby the resonance frequency of absorption cell 5 is varied. Consequently, the amplitude and phase of error signal in synchronism detection results from a lock-in amplifier 8 is varied. The error signal is applied to a PID controller 9 to produce a control signal for controlling the current level of a laser diode power supply 2 and the set temperature of a temperature controller 3 thus regulating the frequency of light emitted from a semiconductor laser diode 1. Consequently, the frequency of light emitted from semiconductor laser diode 1 can be synchronized.
