Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stabilizer for emulsion polymerization which can exhibit excellent emulsion polymerization stability and provide an emulsion high in viscosity and also excellent in flowability.SOLUTION: The stabilizer for emulsion polymerization includes [A] an alkyl-modified vinyl alcohol-based polymer and [B] an organic compound [B1] having a specific Hansen solubility parameter, a compound [B2] represented by formula (I) mentioned below, cyclodextrin [B3], or a combination of them. The alkyl-modified vinyl alcohol-based polymer [A] contains a monomer unit having an alkyl group with 5 to 29 carbon atoms, the content of this monomer unit is 0.05 to 5 mol%, and the saponification degree of the alkyl-modified vinyl alcohol-based polymer [A] is 20 to 99.99 mol%.
