To provide a stabilizer for lighting a discharge lamp and a lighting apparatus that do not require time and labor in processing of the wire end and can easily insert the supply electricity wire into the connecting holes of self lock type terminal and also improve the operation at the assembly.

The stabilizer for lighting discharge lamp comprises an apparatus body 2 having a stabilizer body, an electric source wire of which core wire is made of a stranded wire and which extends from this stabilizer and connected electrically with the electric source, and a service wire of which core wire is made of a single wire and which extends from the stabilizer and connected electrically with the socket. Further a stabilizer 4 provided to the apparatus body 2, a socket 5, electric source wire 41 connected with the stabilizer 4, a service wire 42, 43 of which core wire 42a is made of a single wire and which is connected to the stabilizer 4 at one end and connected to the socket 5 at the other end, and a discharge lamp 6 which is mounted to the socket 5 constitute the stabilizer 4 for lighting discharge lamp and a lighting apparatus 1A using this stabilizer.
