PURPOSE: To prevent putrefaction and an adverse effect on photographic performance and to improve handleability by incorporating at least one kind of aminoglycoside group, such as gentamycin, amicacin, or tobramycin.
CONSTITUTION: The stabilizing solution or rinse solution to be used contains at least one kind of aminoglycoside selected from gentamycin, amikacin, tobramycin, dibekacin, micronomycin, isepamycin, sisomycin, netylmycin, and astromycin. The rinse solution does not mean here to feed the solution at a constant flow rate but to replenish the rinse solution in accordance with the processing amount of the photosensitive material. A small amount of salt, such as sodium or potassium sulfate, or a chelating agent, such as ethylenediamine tetraacetate, is added to the rinse solution, when needed, in order to rinse efficiency, and the disinfectant effect on the rinse solution can be kept up for a long period by adding such an aminoglycoside to the stabilizing solution containing no formaldehyde.
