PURPOSE: To provide a stable aqueous suspension comprising a specific fluorinated copolymer and an emulsifying agent which is excellent in storage stability, capable of forming coatings having excellent chemical properties and mechanical strengths with excellent adhesion on various substrates and useful as treating agents of, e.g. metals or fibers or the like.
CONSTITUTION: This suspension comprises (A) an emulsifying agent and (B) a hydroxylated fluorinated copolymer derived from the monomer base of 45-95 (mol)% vinylidene fluoride (VF2) or trifluoroethylene (VF3); 5-55% tetrafluoroethylene (C2F4); 2-25 mol, per VF2+VF3+C2F4=100 mol, hydroxylated allylic monomer such as a compound of formula I and a compound of formula II; and 0-10 mol, per VF2+VF3+C2F4=100 mol, non-hydroxylated vinyl ether, another fluorinated monomer, non-salified [carboxyl or a group of the formula: -(CF2)n-CF3 (wherein n is 1-14) substituted] allyl ether or ester thereof.
