PURPOSE: To detect the level by utilizing the electric conductivity of a substance and make stable the detection, by inserting a metallic detecting rod in a fluorocarbon polymer pipe supported on the inner wall of a hooper to expose it only at the upper and lower level positions, in the present mechanism of a hopper for a cokes-charging car or the like.
CONSTITUTION: A level detector 2 for vacant coal is equipped at the vacant-coal level and a level detector 3 for filled coal is equipped at the filled coal level, in a hopper 1. For these level detectors 2, 3, metallic detecting rods 5 are inserted in fluorocarbon polymer pipes 6 supported by fixing members 7 at the inner wall of the hopper 1 respectively. The detecting rods 5 of both detectors 2, 3 are connected to a leakage ammeter through cables 4. Accordingly, when the level reaches the vacant-coal level, the detecting rod 5 of the level detector 2 for vacant is separated from the coal, the leakage ammeter detects the level. When coal is fed up to the filed coal-level, the detecting rod 5 of the detector 3 gets in contact with the coat to actuate the leakage ammeter.
