Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a drug preparation capable of maintaining the stability of sodium guaiazulenesulfonate over a long period, by compounding edetic acid or its salt.
CONSTITUTION: A drug preparation containing sodium sulfonate of guaiazulene (1,4-dimethyl-7-isopropylazulene) which is a drug active component of the flower of a medicinal herb, matricaria, is compounded with 0.05W30wt.%, preferably 0.1W5wt.% of edetic acid (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) or its salt. The metal ions present in the drug preparation are blocked by the addition of edetic acid (salt) to enable the maintenance of the stability of the active component over a long period.
