Abstract:

To provide an inexpensive material for a resistance heating element, which is excellent in productivity compared to a nickel-chromium alloy.

A stainless steel foil or a stainless steel wire with a low dependence of volume resistivity on cold working ratio has a chemical composition comprising, by mass%, ≤0.080% C, 1.5-5.0% Si, ≤5% Mn, ≤0.050% P, ≤0.003% S, 10-15% Ni, 15-22% Cr, ≤3% Mo, ≤3.5% Cu, ≤0.2% N, ≤0.01% O, ≤0.05% Ti and the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities, wherein the average temperature coefficient of volume resistivity at 20-600°C is ≤0.00100/°C and the index of dependence of volume resistivity on cold working ratio defined by β(c)/β(A) is 0.970-1.030.
