Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating for a glass base material, etc., for preventing the staining by water and the deposition of dirt and a method for producing this coating.
SOLUTION: The surface for the outside of a wated glass article 10 particularly having an inside flank and the surface for the outside which periodically comes into contact with water has the outer coating 20 for putting the water into a sheet form. This coating is made of a carbon layer formed by direct sputtering on the surface for the outside at a thickness of 15 to 100 &angst . Also, the water applied to the surface for the outside of this glass is made into the sheet form by decreasing the contact angle of the surface for the outside and the water to about ≤25°.
