To provide a stainproof coating composition free from cuprous oxide, suitable for a fishing boat, a pleasure boat represented by a yacht and other small-sized ships, and capable of forming stainproof coating film having sharp color tone and excellent stainproofing property, a coating film made of the same and a stainproofing method.
The stainproof coating composition comprises (A) a (meth) acrylate copolymer containing (a) an aromatic vinyl compound component unit (a-1) and/or an alkyl (meth)acrylate component unit (a-2), and (b) a hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate component unit, and (B) an organic stainproofing agent. The composition preferably contains further (C) a monobasic organic acid and/or its metal salt such as rosin or its metal salt, (D) copper rhodanide and the like. The (meth)acrylate copolymer (A) preferably contains further a component unit (c) derived from an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid such as (meth)acrylic acid, a component unit (d) induced from an alkyd resin and the like.
