PURPOSE: To make it possible to sense stall beforehand by observing the peeling phenomenon of air flow in the vicinity of the surface of a blade and to make it possible to control a jet engine based on the preliminary detection of the stall with the performance of the jet engine being obtained to the maximum degree.
CONSTITUTION: A light source 24 emits light into the inner direction of the diameter from the outer surface part of a blade 22 of a rotary shaft 7 which is rotated and driven. A photodetector 25 receives the light which is emitted from the light source 24 and reflected from each blade 22. A stall discriminating means sensed the peeling of an air flow which is generated on the surface of each blade 22 based on the disturbance of the reflected light obtained from the photodetector 25 and detects the stall.
