To provide a stapler wherein a failure due to an irregular overload is avoided, and which is reduced in sizes of a motor and the stapler by reducing the force required in a motor-operated stapler.
The stapler has a staple cartridge 200 for housing staple sheets each of which has a plurality of straight stapling needles S connected thereto, a stapling needle bending mechanism 109 for bending both ends of the stapling needles S to deform the same into a C-shape, a delivery member 104 for delivering the stapling needles S deformed into the C-shape toward a sheet bundle and a clinch arm 102 for bending the delivered stapling needle S. In the motor-operated stapler 100 for binding the sheet bundle, the center of the stapling needle bending mechanism 109 and the center of the stapling needle S are shifted mutually and the lengths of the bent parts of both ends of the stapling needle S are different.
