Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make operation easily by providing a saturating state detecting circuit for monitoring output signals of an A/D converter and automatically controlling the pick-up time of a CCD or the gain of an amplifier based on the detecting result of said detecting circuit. CONSTITUTION:A light L from a star is condensed on a light receiving surface of a CCD 2 through an optical lens 1. Signals corresponding to each pixel and generated from the CCD2 are digitized through an amplifier 3 and an A/D converter 4, and stored, together with output address data of an address generating circuit 5 which correspond to respective pixels, in a memory 7 through a multiplexer circuit 6. Thereafter, the centroidal operation is conducted in a microprocessor 98. An output data of the converter 4 is inputted to a saturating state detecting circuit 10 in which the saturating state in the level for every pixel data is monitored by a comparator or the like. If the level detected by the circuit 10 is in the saturating state, a detecting signal indicative of the saturating state of the level is inputted to a control circuit 11, thereby automatically controlling the pick-up time of the CCD 2 or the gain of the amplifier 3.
