Abstract:

To obtain a dryblend premix composition for using as a starch alternative in producing a starch-based adhesive for corrugation molding materials.

This composition comprises starch and about 5 to about 20 wt.% of ground plant germ; wherein both the starch and germ can be derived from a variety of plant sources; in a preferred embodiment, the former is cornstarch, and the latter ground corn germ, also known as spent flakes. The subject adhesive for corrugation molding materials can be produced using a premix as a starch alternative in the process for producing carrier, no-carrier or carrier- no-carrier adhesives.
