Abstract:
To suppress deterioration of exhaust emission performance at restart of an engine.SOLUTION: A start control device for an engine includes: a fuel injection valve 14; a plasma generation section (a discharge plug 13 and a voltage application circuit 91) generating plasma in a cylinder; an exhaust emission control device purifying exhaust gas; and a controller (ECU 100) restarting an engine body through compression ignition combustion of an air-fuel mixture in the cylinder when a predetermined restart condition is satisfied. When the engine body is restarted, the controller adjusts a fuel amount to be injected by the fuel injection valve so that an excess air ratio of the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder becomes 1 at an initial start stage of the start-up, and reduces the fuel amount so as to lower combustion torque of the engine body before completion of the restart. Along with the reduction of the fuel amount, the controller causes the plasma generation section to generate plasma in the cylinder after completion of combustion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
