This start control device for the internal combustion engine is constructed for a microcomputer 23 to start preheat of an engine combustion chamber based on start demand of the on-vehicle internal combustion engine and perform drive control of a starter motor 12 after compression of the preheat and to forcedly execute drive of the starter motor 12 before completion of the preheat based on forced start demand of the on-vehicle internal combustion engine.
