To provide a start control device for a marine motor adopting an electric propulsion system, wherein an effective space can be ensured in a ship more than in conventional examples.
The start control device for motors is so constructed that a generator 2 and an exciter 3 for exciting the generator 2 are coupled and driven with an engine 1, and power generated by the generator 2 is supplied to a motor 11 to drive the motor 11. The start control device is constructed of a permanent-magnet generator 4 coupled with the engine 1 together with the generator 2 and the exciter 3, field controlling means 7 that uses power generated by the permanent-magnet generator 4 as power supply and singly supplies the exciter 3 with all the exciting current required by the exciter 3, output voltage detecting means 5, load current detecting means 6, rated voltage setting means 7a, starting voltage setting means 7b, and starting reference current setting means 7c.
