To improve durability in a ring gear by distributing a position where a ring gear in a flywheel meshes with a gear in an electric motor for starting an engine at start-up of an engine.
Between a clutch 3 connected to a crank shaft of an engine 1 and a transmission 2 a flywheel 4 is provided. The flywheel 4 has a ring gear 5 to be meshed with a gear 16 of an electric motor 6 for starting an engine at start-up in the periphery thereof. Rotational phases of the crank shaft in the engine 1 as well as of the flywheel 4 can be shifted to optional positions through the clutch 3 during running. Accordingly, when the engine 1 restarts, it is possible to set the position of the ring gear 5 which is provided in the flywheel 4 and is meshed with the advanced gear 16 in the electric motor 6 at any portion. Consequently, durability in the ring gear 5 can beremarkably improved.
