To provide a starter 1 improving a mounting characteristic, by separately constituting a pinion pushing-out solenoid 7 for pushing out a pinion gear 5 in the axial direction and a relay 8 for carrying an electric current to a motor for opening-closing a main contact point arranged in a motor circuit, as a separate body.
This starter 1 has the pinion pushing-out solenoid 7 for pushing out the pinion gear 5 in the anti-motor direction, and the relay 8 for carrying the electric current to the motor for opening-closing the main contact point of the motor circuit, and its both are separately constituted as the separate body, and are arranged in close vicinity in the axial direction (in the axial direction of the pinion pushing-out solenoid 7). With this constitution, even if the pinion-pushing out solenoid 7 and the relay 8 for carrying the electric current to the motor are separated as the separate body, a dimension is not increased in two directions on the outside in the radial direction of the motor 2. Since the length in the axial direction of putting both together does not exceed the total length of the motor 2, the mounting characteristic equal to a conventional starter having an electromagnetic switch, can be secured.
