To provide a starting determining device for an occupant crash protection device of a vehicle detecting various collision states with high accuracy and determining the starting of the occupant crash protection device suitable for the collision condition.
This starting determining device is provided with a right side front acceleration sensor 4 for detecting the collision of a right side front part of a vehicle body; a left side front acceleration sensor 5 for detecting the collision of a left side front part of the vehicle body; an ECU acceleration sensor 3 provided at a center part of the vehicle body; and an ECU (a control means) 2 for performing the starting control of the occupant crash protection device based on the detection result of each acceleration sensor. The starting determining device estimates collision force from the detection result of each acceleration sensor to determine the starting of air bags 8, 9.
