Abstract:

To improve startability and reduce the exhaust amount of HC at starting by offering such construction that a gasified fuel is supplied to a by-path bypassing a main path.

A main air control valve 16 is provided near an intake port 10 in the main air path 3, and the air control valve is closed at starting. Otherwise, additional injection is performed in an early stage of starting cranking by a port injection valve 5. The main air control valve, when provided, accelerates the gasification of the fuel from an auxiliary injection valve 6 in an early stage of stating cranking, improves startability because of a less fuel intake delay and reduces the exhaust amount of HC at starting. The additional injection, when performed in an early stage of cranking by the port injection valve 5, improves startability because of quicker supply of the fuel to cylinders and reduces the exhaust amount of HC at starting.
