To provide a starting device capable of suitably carrying out absorption of a plurality of types of torque fluctuation of different sizes by proper hysteresis while suppressing enlargement of a whole device in an axial direction.
The starting device is equipped with a lock-up clutch disposed on a power transmission path between an output shaft of an engine and an input shaft of a transmission mechanism and capable of carrying out power transmission between the output shaft and the input shaft, a damper mechanism capable of absorbing torque fluctuation generated in the power transmission path in a clutch-operated state of the lock-up clutch, a gear member 33 disposed in an output shaft side than the damper mechanism in the power transmission path, a turbine hub 22 disposed in an input shaft side than the damper mechanism in the power transmission path, and a frictional contact mechanism 17 changing an engaged state in a circumferential direction with respect to the turbine hub 22 in response to transition of the clutch-operated state of the lock-up clutch in a state of radially pressing the turbine hub 22 out of the gear member 33 and the turbine hub 22.
