To provide an electrostatic separator which can efficiently separate and eliminate aluminum from an aluminum-containing waste plastic.
In this static electricity generator, a high-voltage static electricity generation section is formed by forming a circulation route by connecting a plastic-made pipeline, a cyclone separator as a cyclone, a storage vessel, and a blower with a pipeline; inserting the plastic-made pipeline through a metal-made pipeline having an internal diameter larger than the outer diameter of the plastic-made pipeline and having a length smaller than that of the plastic- made pipeline so that the metal-made pipeline is eccentrically arranged to be in line contact with the plastic-made pipeline; circulating a crushed plastic and/or a particulate plastic through the circulation route; and concentrating static electricity generated on the surface of the plastic-made pipeline on the contact part. After an aluminum-containing waste plastic crushed in advance is supplied to and is brought into contact with the high-voltage static electricity generation section, aluminum is sprung out by electrostatic repulsion to be separated and eliminated.
