To provide a static elimination device and a static elimination method that can reduce the ion balance in a short time.SOLUTION: A static elimination device 1 includes a discharge electrode 12 that generates ions 50, a holder 13 that supports a discharge electrode 12, a blower unit 20 that blows air to the generated ions 50 to supply the ions 50 to a static elimination object, and a control unit 30. At the start of static elimination, the control unit 30 rapidly performs static elimination by increasing the pressure, flow rate, or flow velocity of the air blown from the blower unit 20, and when a predetermined time has passed from the start of static elimination, the control unit 30 reduces the amount of ions supplied to the static elimination object by reducing the pressure, flow rate, or flow velocity of the air blown out from the blower unit 20 from the start of static elimination to control the ion balance to be small.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
