PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power loss by suppressing an increase in speed gradient of a fluid in a pocket of a static pressure fluid bearing device.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a static pressure fluid bearing device. A static pressure part 18 has a bearing gap 20, a bearing plane part 22, a plurality of pockets 24, and a land part 30, and a groove part 40 has a side groove part, an upstream groove part 44 and a downstream groove part 46; and the upstream groove part 44 has a flow passage 16 (supply path), and the bearing gap 20 has a first bearing gap C and a second bearing gap H. The second bearing gap H is larger than a first bearing gap C, and has a Reynolds number Re=ρUH/μ, where ρ is a density of a lubricating agent R, μ is a viscosity coefficient of the lubricating agent R, U is a peripheral speed of a rotating shaft, and H is the second bearing gap H. A flow of the lubricating agent R in the second bearing gap H in a state in which the rotating shaft is supported and rotated is represented as Re<2,000.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
