Abstract:
To provide an assembly and a method for impeding flow of fluid passing through a various sections of a turbo machine in relation to design of a latest turbo machine.
A turbo machine is described, which includes a rotating member 180 having an interface region 182 with a stationary member 172. The interface region includes a pattern of concavities 186. A method for restricting flow of fluid through a gap between the stationary member 172 and the rotating member 180 is also described. The method includes the step of forming a pattern of concavities 186 on at least one surface 188, 178 of the stationary member or the rotating member. The concavities 186 have a size and shape sufficient to impede fluid flow.
