PURPOSE: To permit a continuous operation for a long period of time by a method wherein the high-temperature side and the low-temperature side of the heat recovering section for discharged gas are provided through a partitioning tube plate while a shot cleaning device is added to the waste heat side heat recovering section including dust in the high-temperature discharged gas side.
CONSTITUTION: The high-temperature discharged gas, including the dust from the side of a boiler, is flowed into the waste heat side 3 of the heat exchanger and the clean low-temperature gas consisting of air or the like flowing into the reverse the reverse direction is flowed into the heat retrieving side while the waste heat is retrieved by effecting heat exchange by the group 5 of the heat pipes equipped with fins, which are penetrated through the partitioning tube plate 2. On the other hand, shots 15 are dispersed by a propellor 10 from a reserve tank 8 above the waste heat side 3 to drop them on the group 5 of the heat pipes from a hopper 9. The shots 15 wipe the dust on the tube group 5 and collide against tubes in the tubes group 5 sequentially under flying to the left and right to remove dust adhered to the tube group 5 almost perfectly and maintain a sufficient heat transmitting surface. The dropped shots are returned to a tank 8 from the hopper 11 of the recovering section 7 through horizontal and vertical screw conveyors 14.
