To provide a stator for a rotating electric machine having small outside dimensions.
An insulator, electrically insulating a stator core from a winding 3, is fitted on a stator core 1. First and second folded grooves 10, 11 are formed, which extend in parallel at a prescribed interval in the separating direction outward from the stator core 1, at a portion extending to the outside beyond the outer-periphery surface 1b of the stator core 1 of a guide part 6 of an insulator 4. The first folded groove 10 is open to the side, where the stator core 1 is positioned and both directions to which the first folded groove 10 extends. The second folded groove 11 is open to the opposite side to the side, where the stator core 1 is positioned and in both directions to which the second folded groove 101 extends. A middle portion and a retaining part 9 are folded along the first and second folded grooves 10 and 11, respectively.
