To provide a stator supporting structure that is incorporated in a torque converter to have the function of assisting the rotation of a pump impeller by changing the direction of hydraulic oil discharged from a turbine runner and leading fluid to the pump impeller, and can obtain a torque-amplification effect without disengaging a one-way clutch even if the rotational speed of the turbine runner increases.
This stator supporting structure which includes a double-pinion-type planetary gear 7 attached to a stator support shaft 8 and the one-way clutch and in which a stator reactor are mounted to its outer ring gear functions in such a way as to drive the rotation of a stator at a low speed in the same direction with the turbine runner and to disengage the one-way clutch when the rotational speed reaches a certain higher range to apply a load on the back surface of a blade.
