To provide a compact steam generator for generating steam with high efficiency.
This steam generator 20 includes a steam generating section 31 generating steam by heating the stored water, a steam generator body 30 disposed at an upper side of the steam generating section 31 and including a steam passage section 32 as a passage of the generated steam, an induction heating coil 40 wound on an outer periphery of the steam generator body 30, a heating element 50 allowed to generate heat by the induction heating coil 40 in the steam generator body 30 and heating the water of the steam generating section 31, a tank 80 for detecting a water level, opened to the air and communicated with the steam generating section 31, and a water level sensor 81 disposed in the water level detecting tank 80 and detecting a water level of the steam generating section 31. The heating element 50 is allowed to generate heat by the induction heating coil 40 to generate the steam at the steam generating section 31, the generated steam is distributed from an outlet 32a by rising the steam passage section 32, and water droplet rising by force of steam is allowed to fall in the steam passage section 32 in the direction opposite to the steam flow and returned to the steam generating section 31.
